Fabric Swatches Late-Italian Renaissance Costume

I always like to collect swatches when I am beginning a costume. I take it with me to the fabric stores and add to it as I go. These are stapled into a folder with the sketches. On the right is the fabric used for the under skirt with the trim that goes around the hem at bottom of photo. On the left is a grouping of the two velvets that make up the outer dress. The medium blue is the top and short over skirt. The dark blue is the lining for the outer skirt. I am using velvet because the corners of the skirt opening in front can be turned back or pinned open. The blue cording edges all round the medium blue. The cream silk chiffon is for a large vale that goes from the pill box hat to the girdle jewelry and down to floor length.
