English 1500's Man's Pleated High Hats

These are wired covered buckram hats. Both are covered with a woven wool fabric one with a fleur-de-lis pattern and one solid. The crown is covered with one large oval piece of wool that is pleated as you see in photo one with 16 pleats and the other with 32 pleats. The hat band on the brown hat is made with the reverse (back side) of the fabric and the other is a wool woven ribbon trim which is also used as the trim on the edge of the brim (gray).
